9th October 2025

Stepping Stones North Wales is proud to announce that Anglesey resident, former employee and long-standing volunteer Sue Roberts has received a prestigious award for her work in supporting adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse throughout North Wales.

At an award ceremony in Cardiff last week, Sue was awarded the Individual Excellence in Adult Sexual Violence Support award at The Pathways Awards 2025.

This prestigious national recognition honours individuals who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and impact in supporting survivors of rape and sexual abuse. Sue’s compassionate, tireless work with survivors of childhood sexual abuse throughout North Wales has been recognised as exemplary in the field.

The award ceremony, hosted by New Pathways – one of the UK’s leading organisations providing support for people affected by sexual violence – celebrated individuals and organisations across Wales who are making a real difference in their communities.

Sue Roberts, who has volunteered with Stepping Stones North Wales since retiring, is a vital part of the charity’s mission to support adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Her empathetic approach, deep understanding of trauma, and unwavering dedication have touched the lives of many.

In recognition of her achievement, Deputy CEO of New Pathways Mike Wilkinson said:

“Sue Roberts has made a significant contribution to supporting adults in North Wales who have been affected by childhood sexual abuse. Her dedication and commitment have touched the lives of many people, and she richly deserves this award.”

Stepping Stones North Wales CEO Phil Eastment added:

“We are absolutely thrilled that Sue has received this well-deserved recognition. Her passion and commitment exemplify the values we hold as an organisation. She has made a profound difference to the lives of survivors, and we are incredibly proud to have her as part of our team.”

The award is not only a personal achievement for Sue but also highlights the crucial role volunteers play in the ongoing fight against sexual violence and the importance of community-based support services.
